There are many types of picture frames that you can choose from in case you wish to hang a painting or a photo on the wall. Cheap picture frames come in different sizes, shapes and designs in order to accommodate your picture framing needs. You can also choose an electronic picture frame for your photographs if you wish to display your photos in a non-conventional, techie way.

Picture framing is just so much fun to do. You will be amazed by how rewarding it can be to see a photograph or your painting masterpiece framed and hanged on the wall. It can be a good project that you can start at home.

Here are some easy steps that you can follow:

1. Measure the material or piece that you wish to frame. Take note of the height and width of the material so that you’ll be able to get the perfect frame to house it.

2. When shopping for a frame, make sure that the material matches the image you like. If you have a rustic black and white image for picture framing, then you must use a frame that matches the tone of the image. You can get a vintage silver frame or just a simple solid black one. This ensures that your image is not overshadowed by the frame as you would want it to stand out.

3. Once you already have the frame, then you can now start the picture framing process. Set up your picture framing supplies like the mounting tape, cutter, and of course the piece you wish to frame, where you can easily reach them. This will make the framing more efficient.

4. Mount the image or the piece on the back board. For photographs, you can use the acid free mounting tape to secure it on the board. If you are framing a canvass, then you might want to use a canvass stretcher to flatten the painting on the backing board. You can also put double sided tapes on the corners of the piece that you will use for picture framing. This way, it will not roll down or crumple up when hanged.

5. Once you have centered the piece on the matting board and you have taped it securely, then you can now put the matting. It goes on top of the image to protect the corners when placed in the frame.

6. Clean the glass on the frame with an acid free glass cleaner. Wipe it off with a lint free cloth. Make sure that before you proceed with the picture framing, the glass is clear, without any fingerprints or stains.

7. The final step is of course to fit the frame over the piece. Secure the back board using steel brads or small nails so that it will not fall off. Attach a piece of string or hook and you can now mount it on your wall.
